Interview Tapes and Transcripts
Since 1978, the BIA/ANCSA
office and BSF have been conducting interviews as part of the determination
process for BSNC's Cemetery and Hisotric Site Selections. Approximately
150 interviews have been conducted to date. BSF maintains an archive of
these taped interviews and has copies of the transcripts of those interviews
that have been transcribed.
Imuruk
Basin Project Photographic Collection
From 1969 to 1973 Dr. Laurel
Bland spearheaded the Imuruk Basin Project, a program to document the hisotrical
resources of the Seward Peninsula. The field crew consisted on Myron Wheeler
and Dwight Schnare with logistical support by Martin Olson, Peter Kakarak,
and John Earl Komok, and William Oquilluk to name but a few. During the
course of the Imuruk Basin Project, thousands of pictures were taken of
historical and archaeological resources in northwest Alaska. Dr. Bland,
through a gracious donation, has made 600 of these important images available
to BSF. The collection details the land and reources of the Bering Straits
area just prior to and during the important ANCSA era.
Wenger
