Shareholder Services provides assistance to approximately 6,300
BSNC shareholders in matters relating to shareholder records, dividend
distributions, annual reports, election materials and newsletters.
When BSNC was
formed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act there were
a total of 6,333 eligible Alaska Natives who received 100 shares
of stock in BSNC. Most shareholders also enrolled in village corporations
formed within the boundaries of the region and received 100 shares
of stock in a village corporation as well. If BSNC shareholders
did not enroll in a village corporation they are considered “At-Large
Shareholders.”
Shareholder
Services can provide information regarding your shares or status
as a BSNC shareholder. Additionally we can assist you with your
questions regarding any transfer of shares through inheritance
or gifting
of shares.
Over the years
some shares of stock has changed hands through the gifting program
or through inheritance. All stock originally issued at the time
BSNC was established was voting stock. In other words, any Alaskan
Native descendent owning shares of BSNC stock has a right to vote
during the annual meetings
for the Board of Directors or other issues that may come to the
shareholders for a vote.
Please let us
know your current
address and be sure to participate in person or through
your votes during our Annual
Shareholders Meeting. It is also beneficial to update
shareholder records for a change
of name.
The board of
directors has the ability to declare a dividend and it is important
that shareholder names and addresses are current to ensure you receive
your dividend in a timely manner. At-Large shareholders are also
entitled to annual 7(j) Distributions. See Shareholder
